What is it and for what type of complaint?

Moxa therapy or moxibustion is an ancient technique and one of the techniques of TCM - Traditional Chinese Medicine. This therapy works simultaneously with aromatherapy and thermotherapy, through the phytotherapic and phytoenergetic properties of the plant.

The practice consists of using the medicinal herb Artemisia (Artemisia Vulgaris) in the form of a stick, cone or mesh, applied to the points along the energetic meridians, according to the protocol defined for each patient, via the application of heat (as if it were an incense) . In addition to promoting a feeling of comfort and warmth, the heat activates and improves the circulation of energy and blood in the applied area, as well as enhancing the nutrition of organs and viscera.

The technique can be applied with or without needling (acupuncture) and is indicated to treat: anemia, asthma, distress, arthritis, arthrosis, anxiety, acne, headache, bronchitis, binge eating, gastrointestinal menstrual cramps, depression, muscle pain, epilepsy , migraine, flatulence, frigidity, gastritis, sexual impotence, insomnia, psoriasis, rheumatism, stress, among many others.

It is a non-invasive practice that in addition to providing physical and mental well-being, and stimulating the blood and lymphatic system, has numerous other benefits. The therapy is contraindicated for pregnant women in the first trimester, diabetics and people who cannot tolerate strong odors. The technique can be performed in conjunction with other practices such as Chinese cone, diet therapy, electroacupuncture, magnetotherapy, massage therapy, music therapy, reiki, wind therapy and others.

Duration: Each session lasts between 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the treatment area and if there is another combined therapy.

Procedure: Initially the area to be treated is sanitized then heat therapy is applied to the acupoints.
