What is it and for what type of complaint?

Electroacupuncture is a technique that combines electrotherapy with acupuncture, in order to amplify the effect of isolated needles. In the paradigm of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), electrotherapy consists of the use of electric currents in two ways. The first, only with electrodes on the acupuncture points (excellent option for patients who cannot tolerate needles). And the second, the emission of the current is carried out directly on the needles applied to the patient, they are connected to a device that emits electrical impulses, thus enhancing their effects.

Electroacupuncture is indicated especially in chronic pain syndromes. The technique also helps in reducing muscle spasm, improves blood and energy circulation, combats sagging in the face and body, activates metabolism and strengthens the local musculature, promotes balance of body and mind.

Duration: Each session lasts around 20 - 60 minutes, depending on the application protocol and whether or not there is another combined therapy.

Procedure: Initially, hygiene is performed at the application site, the needle is inserted over the skin, adequate stimulation is performed according to the patient's protocol.
