What is it and for what type of complaint?
Cupping Therapy is a secular technique, originating from the East and TCM - Traditional Chinese Medicine, of diagnostic and therapeutic character, which aims to promote oxygenation and unblocking of the energetic, lymphatic and blood flow, by means of suction/vacuum in the superficial muscles via suction cups. The application of the technique can be static or sliding, with or without massage, with or without bloodletting. There are several types of suction cups used in practice and different materials, such as: silicone, bamboo, rubber, animal horn, glass, acrylic, the suction cup can also be electronic.
During the application, the skin's reactions to the stimulus are observed. Coloring gives the therapist an indication of the current status of Qi and blood. The suction cup marks gradually disappear from the skin over the course of a week. Cupping Therapy is indicated to treat anxiety, joint, muscle and tension pains, cellulite and striae, edema and swelling, migraine and headache, rheumatism.
In addition to assisting in the process of eliminating toxins from the blood, ventosatherapia brings other benefits such as oxygenation and tissue nutrition, eliminating blood stagnation, stimulating the production of synovial fluid in the joints, regulating the PH of the skin, reducing the appearance of scarring, promotes myofascial release, strengthens blood vessels, provides physical and mental relaxation.
Duration: Each session lasts around 60 minutes, depending on the region to be treated and whether or not there is another conjugate therapy.
Procedure: The region to be treated initially receives manual stimulation and later the suction cups. Depending on the reason for treatment, the region may receive additional stimulus (stiper or magnets) to continue treatment at home.
